On Sunday 9th July, Alison Dearden, from Abbey Physiotherapy on Coton Road, Nuneaton, was battling through scorching temperatures of more than 30 degrees at the Festival of Endurance, Hever Castle Triathlon. Alison successfully completed the 1.9km lake swim, 60km cycle and 4km in a fantastic time of 4 hours and 6 minutes!

Alison was taking part in the triathlon in aid of the Mary Ann Evans Hospice and has so far raised £771.17; a tremendous amount! The triathlon follows a previous challenge for the charity; a 10KM Open Water Swim in 2015, where Alison raised over £500.

Natalie Smith, Fundraiser at the Mary Ann Evans Hospice, said: “We’re in awe of Alison for completing these huge challenges for the hospice. Covering all three disciplines is not an easy thing to do. As Alison says on her online fundraising page, ‘you never know what you’re capable of until you push your limits’ and she has certainly shown that in her challenges for the hospice!”

Alison admitted the hot weather had made ‘conditions tough’ but she is really pleased with her time and is now wondering what her next challenge will be!
