Mary Ann’s 30 Years

Throughout 2021 we, at Mary Ann, celebrated our thirtieth year and as we draw January 2022 to a close we come to the end of those 12 months. To mark the occasion I wanted to  write something that expresses our gratitude for the previous 30 years and how we intend to be just as vital to those in need for the next 30 years.

Our 30th Year

2021 was another year like no other. When we gathered together at the beginning of the year we thought that, the worst was behind us and, we would have the opportunity to celebrate our landmark with you, our supporters. Sadly, it wasn’t to be. As 2021 began we looked out on a cautious landscape and as the year moved forward there were ups and downs as we all adapted to life in a pandemic. As 2022 starts we are beginning to see the signs of recovery as our fabulous staff and volunteers strive to ensure we are ready and able to continue to offer our services to you, our community, when you need us most.

Bill’s Wall – In Memory of Bill Olner

In May of 2020 Bill Olner, a great champion of the local area and Mary Ann, sadly died. Bill was a vital voice and presence in getting the Hospice established when he was the Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth. We had intended that our 30th year would revolve around our memorial to Bill and the wonderful support he gave the Hospice. We have now begun plans for our memorial wall, known as Bill’s Wall, to be created in our garden. It will be in pride of place and you too can support the wall by buying a memorial plaque to remember your loved ones. There will be more information coming soon.

Thank You and the Next 30 Years

Thank you for your continued support especially over these last few years. Our 30th year might not have gone to plan, but we are proud to have been able to continue to provide our services throughout Nuneaton, Bedworth, North Warwickshire and surrounding areas.

This, rather than many events, is a great example of Bill’s legacy and with your support will be our purpose for the next 30 years to come.

Thank you, from everyone at Mary Ann.

Kind Regards

Liz Hancock – Chief Executive

Mary Ann Evans Hospice
