National Volunteers’ Week 2021 – Shops

From the 1st June until the 7th June, it is National Volunteers’ Week. Without our volunteers the Hospice wouldn’t be able to provide our vital services across the community. We are talking to a different department everyday to talk about how our volunteers make a difference.

We have 124 volunteers currently supporting our 8 shops. Our volunteers are aged from 18 to 88 ! Some have been with us just a few months , while others have served the hospice for many, many years. These individuals gift their time freely in many different roles; from admin to assembly, driving to displays, pricing to PAT testing, Sorting to selling… not forgetting cleaning, maintenance, steaming/ironing, repairs and up-cycling!

They are truly valued by all our shop staff. Their commitment, after what has been a difficult 12 months, is proven , as the majority have stepped straight back into their roles from the 12th April. We applaud them for their contribution. It’s an old cliche but we REALLY could not do it without them.
