The Nuneaton Lions Club, a charity that aims to benefit worthy causes, has recently donated to a well-loved local charity, the Mary Ann Evans Hospice.
The donation was made following a presentation from Chriss Gillmann, Secretary of College Street Allotments, to the Nuneaton Lions. Chriss described how the allotments have been providing the hospice kitchen with donations of fresh produce, biscuits, and snacks and raising money for patient meals for many years.
The Nuneaton Lions Club were so impressed they decided to donate £100 for the hospice kitchen which was spent at Frank Parkers Butchers, who generously supplied a great assortment of meats, worth way over £100.
Pat & Barry Plant from the allotments surprised hospice cook, Heather Heritage, with the gift last week. Heather said “Barry told me he had a surprise for me a few weeks ago, but I wasn’t expecting that. It was totally out of the blue! How I didn’t cry I will never know; it’s just absolutely beautiful. All the cuts of meat are perfect portion sizes and will be great for our current menus. Thank you so much to the Nuneaton Lions Club for their donation and to the allotments for their continued and constant support of the hospice!”
