Our predominantly Volunteer led support service
Volunteers help in the Day Hospice, in the Hospice Shops, in the Fundraising Department and at fundraising events. Volunteers also transport Patients to and from the Hospice as well as driving the Hospice minibus and help in the garden and offer bereavement support.
Working In The Community
The team works with GPs, community nurses, local hospitals and hospices, specialist palliative care teams and other health professionals to develop care programmes that meet the individual needs of each of our home-based patients and their family.
The Community Services Team consists of expert and experienced palliative and end of life care nurses, who can advise family, carers and the other health professionals involved in their care. caring for them. The nurses also give provide patients and their families with emotional and psychological support.
We accept referrals from General Practitioners, Consultants, or other healthcare professionals and also self-referrals.
Mary Ann Evans Hospice strives to enhance the quality of life of people living with a life limiting illness. Staff can help to address problems with symptom management and the physical, psychological and emotional issues associated with a life limiting illness, as well as provide support and guidance with financial or social concerns and spiritual care.
