At the end of May, TSB Bedworth & their area team spent a very wet afternoon in the Mary Ann Evans Hospice Gardens, developing their relationship with their selected ‘Charity of the Year’.

The team of 15 braved a miserable downpour with smiles, determination and some impressive gardening gear to clear the patch on the Hospice’s car park border. They planted several rose bushes to brighten the entrance to the site. Despite the dreadful weather the team soldiered on and got the work done in just a few short hours, warming up afterwards with a hot cuppa.

Area manager, Johnathan Ritchie, who is also taking part in the Coast to Coast & London Triathlon Challenge events on behalf of the Hospice, assembled the team, who had chosen the Hospice as their ‘Charity of the Year’ back in October. He also made sure the Hospice received a donation of TSB Umbrellas for their foyer. Patients, visitors, volunteers and staff can now borrow a brolly to use on those rainy days.

Gemma Thompson, Fundraising Assistant at the Mary Ann Evans Hospice, said “We would like to thank the team for all their hard work so far, having raised just under £1000 for us since October and for offering their community support at the Hospice. They we’re unbelievably resilient in the awful weather and so happy to help us. Johnathan will be returning when the weather improves for a follow up photo of the garden borders in bloom, so we will keep you all updated.”

TSB understands that no one knows their local community better than the people who live there.  That’s why, each year, the Bank asks local people to nominate a local cause that they would like them to partner with. TSB have recently closed the nomination deadline for next year’s Charitable Partners, but to find out how to get involved please go to for more details.
