A Winter Message From Our CEO
Welcome to the Winter message on behalf of Mary Ann.
We are delighted to share with you some of the highlights from this year and the incredible work from our teams and the wider community.
So far, 2022 has been a busy and exciting year for the hospice. We have re-designed and relaunched our day services in the Wellbeing Centre, which provides a broader range of therapeutic programmes for our patients and their family carers. The Family Support and Bereavement team have introduced the ‘Good Grief Café’; a new service which enables clients who have experienced a bereavement to meet other bereaved people for social support.
In the last 12 months our Rapid Response Service has provided over 4000 visits to patients preventing ambulance call outs, hospital admissions and most importantly, supporting patients to remain in their place of choice for their end-of-life care.
We have been busy with events again this year as the brilliant support from our local communities continues. We had a team of 11 runners all complete the London Marathon for us in October and Nuneaton’s Finest DJ Reunion at the Griff and Coton Sports Club was a sell-out evening and raised over £1300.
We recognise that the cost of living is making charity donations more challenging than ever before. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you give us and let you know how your money is spent.
It costs just under £2.5 million a year to run Mary Ann, but we receive less than 30% of our funding from the NHS and Commissioners. This means we rely on your donations and fundraising to cover over £1.8 million per year. That is £5000 we need to raise every single day.
We are more grateful than ever for your support, whatever way you choose. You can make a donation, buy some raffle tickets, visit our shops, support an event, remember us in your will, volunteer and even just by telling your friends and families about us. It all really does make a difference.
Inside our newsletter and website, you will find stories from those who have experienced our care showing just what a difference your support makes! Along with plenty of ideas about how to get involved in the coming months.
After the success of the online book of dedication last year, we will continue to offer these dedications for 2022. On this site you will find all the information about how you can make a donation, a dedication and buy raffle tickets.
We hope you have a lovely Christmas and a happy new year.
All the best,
Elizabeth Hancock
Chief Executive
