Exciting news – we are opening a new store in Nuneaton

We’re delighted to share that the Mary Ann Evans Hospice is opening a new store – Mary Ann’s Marketplace – in Nuneaton’s Ropewalk Shopping Centre.  This new venture brings together our Home Store on Weddington Terrace and our Nuneaton Shop on Harefield Road, both of which will close in mid-August to make way for our exciting Marketplace opening. Staff and volunteers from both locations will transfer to the new store, so you’ll see many familiar faces in our new location.

You may be thinking “not another charity shop,” but we hope you’ll find it to be something more: a vibrant community hub offering preloved clothes, vintage, homeware, furniture, sports equipment, books, media, and even a small café. It’s a place to shop sustainably, connect with others, and most importantly support a vital local cause.  Every purchase helps change lives, supporting people in our community affected by a life limiting illness.

Located in the former H&M store (briefly the Jobcentre Plus), Mary Ann’s Marketplace will be only our second store to open 7 days a week. It’s designed to be a welcoming space for bargain hunters and conscious consumers alike.

Liz Hancock, CEO at Mary Ann Evan’s Hospice, shared her excitement ahead of the new store opening: “We are thrilled to bring Mary Ann’s Marketplace to Nuneaton’s Ropewalk Shopping Centre. This store will provide a wonderful shopping experience to our loyal customers, whilst we are also hoping it will attract new customers to shop with Mary Ann.  It will provide the public with an opportunity to shop with a conscience, finding unique preloved items while knowing their purchases directly benefit our patients and their families.

With hospices nationwide facing funding challenges, this initiative reflects our commitment to diversifying income streams and securing the future of local hospice care. One shop in place of two helps reduce costs while investing in a larger, more centrally located space.
