Yvonne’s Story

With thanks and gratitude to the Mary Ann Evans Hospice team for the amazing care and support, delivered at home, for my Nan and her family, we truly could not have managed without them.

Following a short stay in hospital after a life altering stroke, my Nan came to live with us for end of life care. We’re a busy young family with full time jobs, three children and a dog! So the care, help and support offered by the Mary Ann Team was vital in allowing my Nan’s and her families’ wishes to be carried out.

The Mary Ann Hospice at Home care team – including their carers who came and stayed overnight – and nurses showed outstanding holistic care which was second to none. At every visit they were compassionate, communicating with family members with integrity and kindness. Their attention to my Nan, knowledge and guidance helped us to keep my Nan safe, comfortable and settled at home, where my Nan spent her final days surrounded by those who loved her. Nothing was ever too much trouble and no question was left unanswered. We were involved with my Nan’s care from the time she came home until the end. Worried telephone calls to the Rapid Response service were answered straight away and where a visit was required a nurse attended quickly and dealt with issues timely and with grace.

The overall experience has left my family, at a time which is understandably sad, with good memories of my Nan and the outstanding care we all received at the end of her life.
